Description
Brilliant design is about getting the best of both worlds, with none of the limitations. The thinnest detachable spares nothing – it’s durable, stylish, and powered to boost your productivity as a PC, a tablet and an irreplaceable sidekick. With a premium 2-in-1 experience you can work with full PC power on a high-performance keyboard, or travel freely with the versatility of a Full HD tablet in one resourceful device.
Design Features
Designed for those who appreciate beauty and performance as much as practicality, the new Spectre x2 brings this sleek, sandblasted aluminum design to life with a range of smart, innovative features. Unique kickstand design: The durable stainless steel kickstand rotates 150 degrees to adjust smoothly to any viewing angle. The kickstand disappears into the back of the Spectre x2 when you don’t need it and releases with the simple slide of a button.
Carved like a sculpture
To make the Spectre x2 incredibly thin without compromising durability or battery capacity, Hp used an advanced precision manufacturing process called CNC (Computer Numerical Control) to carve the tablet from a single piece of aluminum. Sculpted from a single piece of aluminum and a stainless steel kickstand for a solid, seamless finish, this thinnest detachable combines astonishing elegance with dependable durability. While some hybrid tablets have simple flat kickstands that pull out from the rear panel, the Spectre x2 has a U-shaped metal kickstand, hinged near the center of the device. It releases via a slider button along the left edge of the tablet.
Mobile Productivity
The Spectre x2 was made for mobile productivity with a full-sized keyboard and trackpad. With a fabric bottom cover and an aluminum top, the hybrid keyboard design gives you a unique combination of featherweight portability and heavyweight typing performance. The Spectre x2 keyboard is only 5mm thick, but it delivers the same typing experience and comfortable 1.5mm key depth you expect from a larger notebook. Work with full PC power on a high-performance keyboard, or travel freely with the versatility of a Full HD tablet in one resourceful device.
Pull-apart Hybrids
Like other pull-apart hybrids, the HP x2 is comprised of two distinct halves. The top part is the slate-style tablet, which contains the display and also the internal components, including the motherboard, CPU, RAM and storage. It has the same glass slate look as an iPad, Surface Pro or any other modern tablet, with a glossy top surface, buttons and ports along the outer edges along with a wide black bezel surrounding the display. Its footprint is slightly larger than the Surface Pro 4’s, but they’re overall very similar.
Untethered freedom
Work beyond the outlet. With up to 10 hours of battery life and LTE capability, you’ve got the freedom to leave the plug behind. The outer edges are a little busier than on the Surface Pro 4, with protruding buttons for volume, power and the kickstand release, plus two USB-C ports and covered slots for microSD and SIM cards (which will require a pin or paper clip to open). The bottom edge has a strip of magnetic connection points which bind to the included keyboard dock. It’s a strong connection, so the two halves snap together effortlessly and stay firmly connected.
HP Lounge, get closer to the Artists you love
With unlimited access to music and exclusive content for HP customers, there’s no need to search for it, as it comes to you. Aside from that, the two keyboards are remarkably similar in terms of key size and layout, and the size of the touchpad. The HP version also includes some extra (small) speakers that kick in when the two parts are connected. Like other new HP systems, the speakers carry Bang & Olufsen branding, which basically means the audio company listened to and signed off on the system’s speakers, but didn’t actually build or design them.
The Slimmest Machine
The HP Spectre x2 is one of the thinnest Windows 10 devices ever made, measuring only 0.31 inches (7.87mm) without the keyboard base attached. Comparatively, the Surface Pro 4 measures 0.33 inches (8.45mm) thick. HP’s latest slate even comes close to being as thin as the Surface Book‘s 0.30-inch (7.7mm) thick Clipboard section. Between the quad-speaker audio setup, three different cameras and the included keyboard, the HP Spectre x2 comes with a lot of extra hardware you won’t find on many other Windows 10 tablets. All this added tech doesn’t come with an inflated price either.
Intel Core m7 Inside
The Intel Core m7-6Y75 is a very power efficient dual-core SoC based on the Skylake architecture and was launched in September 2015. Thanks to its extremely low TDP, the CPU is found in this Spectre’s passively cooled 2-in-1 notebook. In addition to two CPU cores with Hyper-Threading clocked at 1.2 – 3.1 GHz (2 cores: max. 2.9 GHz), the chip also integrates an HD Graphics 515 GPU and a dual-channel LPDDR3-1866/DDR3L-1600 memory controller. The chip is manufactured using a 14 nm process with FinFET transistors.
